Epipremnum aureum 'Marble Queen’
Epipremnum aureum ‘Marble Queen’
Epipremnum aureum ‘Marble Queen’ is a classic for good reason. Each heart-shaped leaf is marbled with a different mix of creamy white and green, giving the plant a bright, almost painted appearance. No two leaves are exactly alike, and established plants can become beautifully full and highly variegated.
Better known as Marble Queen Pothos, this is an adaptable and rewarding houseplant that works just as well trailing from a shelf or hanging pot as it does climbing a moss pole or other support. When allowed to climb, the leaves can become considerably larger as the plant matures.
Its heavy variegation means ‘Marble Queen’ grows a little more slowly than greener pothos varieties, but it remains an excellent choice for both newer plant owners and experienced collectors.
Care Highlights
-
Light: Medium to bright indirect light. Brighter indirect light helps maintain strong variegation.
-
Water: Allow the top 1–2 inches of the potting mix to dry before watering thoroughly.
-
Soil: Use a loose, well-draining houseplant or aroid mix.
-
Humidity: Adaptable to normal household humidity.
-
Growth: Trailing or climbing. A moss pole or support encourages larger, more mature leaves.
-
Variegation: Each leaf will naturally vary in its balance of cream and green.
-
Pet safety: Pothos contains calcium oxalate crystals and should be kept away from pets and small children.
