The crested brain cactus is a quirky, sculptural cactus with tightly folded, wavy growth that looks just like a little green brain covered in soft spines. Instead of growing in straight “finger” columns, the stems fan and twist along a crest, creating intricate ridges and ripples that are totally unique on every plant.
Compact, slow‑growing, and easy to care for, this cactus is perfect for sunny windowsills, desert bowls, and oddity‑themed collections. It brings big personality in a small footprint and is an instant conversation starter for cactus lovers and curious plant people alike.

Plant care
• Light: Loves bright light and can handle full sun. Indoors, a south‑ or west‑facing window is ideal; if you increase light, acclimate gradually to avoid scorch on the folds.
• Water: Water thoroughly, then allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again. In cooler or darker months, water very sparingly. Overwatering and moisture trapped in the folds are the biggest risks.
• Soil: Use a very fast‑draining cactus/succulent mix. Amend with extra pumice, perlite, or coarse sand so water runs through quickly and the roots never sit wet.
• Humidity: Prefers dry air and does not need added humidity. Avoid very humid locations, which can encourage rot in the crests.
• Temperature: Enjoys warmth and bright conditions. Protect from frost and cold drafts; keep above about 50°F, with warmer temps preferred in active growth.
• Growth habit: Slow‑growing, crested form that develops dense, brain‑like mounds over time. Each plant’s crest pattern is one‑of‑a‑kind.
• Pet safety: Spiny cactus should be kept out of reach of pets and children to prevent injury.
