Queensland Bottle Tree - Brachychiton rupestris hybrid 6"

Brachychiton rupestris Hybrid, commonly known as a Queensland Bottle Tree, is an unusual Australian tree grown for its distinctive swollen trunk and sculptural form. As it matures, the trunk develops the characteristic bottle-like shape used to store water, giving each plant a wonderfully individual appearance.

Young plants make striking container specimens and can be grown indoors in very bright light. Its naturally thickened trunk also makes it an interesting candidate for bonsai-style growing. Drought tolerant once established, it prefers a fast-draining mix and should never be left sitting wet.
