Monstera ‘Burle Marx Flame’

A true collector aroid with thick, glossy green leaves that transform as the plant matures. Juvenile foliage begins narrow and solid; with strong light and something to climb, each new leaf can develop increasingly deep, narrow splits that create its signature flame-like silhouette.

Give this one a moss pole, plank, or sturdy trellis—climbing support is the key to larger leaves and more dramatic fenestrations. It is a slower-growing Monstera, but absolutely worth the wait for growers who enjoy watching a plant level up leaf by leaf.

Care

• Light: Bright, indirect light. Gentle morning sun is fine; avoid hot, direct afternoon sun.

• Water: Water thoroughly when the top 1–2 inches of the mix are dry. Drain excess water and do not let roots sit wet.

• Humidity: Average home humidity works, but 50%+ supports stronger, more consistent growth.

• Temperature: Keep warm, ideally 65–85°F. Protect from drafts and temperatures below 60°F.

• Soil: Use a chunky, airy, well-draining aroid mix.

• Support: Train onto a moss pole, plank, or sturdy trellis. Climbing encourages larger foliage and increasingly dramatic splits.

• Fertilizer: Feed lightly with a balanced fertilizer during active growth.

• Maintenance: Rotate occasionally for even growth, remove yellow or damaged leaves, and repot only once the root system has filled its current pot.
