Hoya ‘Garnet Star’

Hoya ‘Garnet Star’ is a beautiful collector Hoya grown for both its attractive foliage and striking flowers. Its sturdy green leaves form vigorous vines that can be allowed to trail or trained around a trellis for a fuller, more sculptural plant.

When mature, ‘Garnet Star’ produces clusters of waxy, star-shaped blooms with rich reddish to garnet tones. The contrast between the dark, jewel-toned flowers and green foliage makes this an especially rewarding Hoya when it comes into bloom.

Like most Hoyas, it prefers an airy growing mix, plenty of light, and a chance to dry somewhat between waterings.

Care Highlights

• Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. A little gentle morning or late-afternoon sun can help encourage flowering.
• Water: Allow much of the potting mix to dry between thorough waterings.
• Soil: Use a chunky, airy and fast-draining Hoya or epiphytic mix.
• Humidity: Adaptable to normal household humidity but appreciates moderately higher humidity.

• Peduncles: Leave old flower peduncles intact, as Hoyas can rebloom from them.
