Ficus petiolaris - Petiolate Fig 6"

Ficus petiolaris, commonly called the Petiolate Fig or Rock Fig, is an unusual Mexican fig prized for its sculptural growth, heart-shaped leaves, and striking pink-to-red leaf veins and petioles. Over time, it develops a thickened, characterful trunk and exposed roots, giving mature plants an almost bonsai-like appearance.

In its native habitat, this species is often found growing among rocks and cliff faces, with roots working their way into cracks and crevices. In cultivation, it makes an excellent specimen plant and is especially well suited to bonsai and caudex-style displays.
