Begonia rex ‘Escargot Mafia’ is all about the foliage. Each leaf develops a dramatic spiral pattern, with bands of deep green, silver, and darker markings curling inward toward the center. The result is wonderfully strange — part snail shell, part Victorian wallpaper.

Like other Rex Begonias, ‘Escargot Mafia’ stays relatively compact and makes an excellent foliage plant for shelves, tabletops, terrariums, or anywhere its intricately patterned leaves can be appreciated up close.

Give it bright, indirect light to encourage strong coloration and compact growth. Rex Begonias appreciate consistent moisture but dislike soggy soil, so allow the upper layer of the mix to begin drying between waterings.
