Meet the Alocasia 'Antoro Velvet' (often associated with Alocasia chienlii) — a breathtaking and highly coveted tropical statement plant treasured for its moody, dark foliage and tactile, velvety texture. Emerging in vibrant green tones and maturing into a dramatic dark green-to-nearly-black hue, this tissue-cultured (TC) gem brings a rare, exotic elegance to any indoor jungle.

Key Features
  • Velvety Foliage: Soft, finely textured, matte leaves with a unique micro-hair (trichome) covering that catches the light.
  • Dramatic Veining: Prominent silver-white raised veins that create high contrast against dark arrow-shaped leaves.
  • Compact Upright Habit: Grows neatly in an upright clump from a central corm/rhizome rather than trailing or climbing—no moss pole required. Ideal for tabletops, plant cabinets, and shelves.
  • Tissue Culture (TC) Starter: Vigorous young specimen ready to transition and grow into your custom aroid substrate.
Care Guide (Add to Product Page or Insert Accordion)
  • Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid harsh, direct midday sun, which can scorch the delicate velvet leaves.
  • Watering: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Keep the mix evenly moist during active growth, but never let the plant sit in stagnant or waterlogged soil. Sensitive to hard tap water—use filtered, rainwater, or let tap water sit overnight.
  • Humidity: Thrives in high humidity (60% to 80%). A humidifier or indoor greenhouse cabinet works wonders.
  • Soil / Potting Mix: Use a chunky, fast-draining aroid mix (combining regular potting mix with perlite, orchid bark, and/or coco coir).
  • Temperature: Keep in a warm spot between 65°F–80°F (18°C–27°C) and protect from cold drafts or temperatures dropping below 60°F (15°C).
  • Pet Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested (contains calcium oxalates). Please keep out of reach of curious cats, dogs, and small children.
